Acne Treatments to Prevent Popping Pimples

Popping pimples can be oddly addicting. Seeing the pus pop out of your face is extremely gross, but fascinating. Also, feeling the release can make a pimple feel so much better and it seems to heal faster too. However, many doctors say never to pop a pimple, because it can cause infection and scarring.

Preventing the pimple from forming is the best case scenario. Unfortunately, finding the right acne treatment can take forever. Trying skincare product after skincare product can even make acne worse. However, finding the right product for your skin takes trial and error. Everybody’s skin is different and what may what for someone else with your skin type may not work for your skin type.

Read Acne Treatments Ingredients
In order to find the right acne medication for your skin, you have to look at the ingredients on the acne treatment label. Different ingredients may affect your type of acne and skin type. Finding out which ingredients work to clear your skin of pimples, is key to stop popping pimples. It may take extra time to research and trying out the product, but your skin is worth it.

Do not start with a whole bunch of new acne treatments at once. Buy one new product at a time. Give a new product about a month before tossing it. Let yours skin react to a new product and see how the new treatment works for you.

Stop Popping Pimples
Exfoliating your skin will help to get rid of dead skin cells and clear pores. Some manual scrub exfoliates can be too rough on acne prone skin and actually aggravate your acne. Beta Hydroxy Acid or Salicylic Acid is a chemical exfoliate, which may be more gentle. Beta Hydroxy Acid gets deep down into your skin, cleaning out the pimples. Make sure your Beta Hydroxy Acid product is pH balanced of 3 with a 2% of Beta Hydroxy Acid level. Beta Hydroxy Acid is famous for getting rid of acne. However, it may not work for everybody.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid is another chemical exfoliate that can work to get rid of acne. Make sure the product has a 10% of Alpha Hydroxy Acid with a pH of 2 or 3. A product with a pH of 3 for example is more effective on preventing pimples than a product with a pH of 4. You can also layer the two Hydroxy Acid products over each other, but be sure to wait 20 minutes, to avoid interfering with one product’s formula and effectiveness. Or you could alternate nights or wear the Alpha Hydroxy Acid in the morning and the Beta Hydroxy Acid at night.

Other acne treatments to prevent popping pimples are Benzoyl Peroxide and Sulfur. Benzoyl Peroxide comes in many gels, lotions, and creams varying in strengths of 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. Try out a lower percentage and if your skin does get irritated or dry, then try a higher strength. Sulfur can also be a good acne fighting treatment. Sulfur comes in an pimple spot on treatment or in a mask form for oily skin types.

Then there are prescription acne treatments, which many people with severe acne may have to resort to. Yes, it may be more expensive, but once you find the right product for your skin, you will save by not testing out any more products. And your skin and confidence is worth it. Accutune medication can also work for many. In addition, Retin-A, works double for premature anti-aging and healing acne. If you can not afford Retin-A check out the drugstores for a weaker form of Retin-A, such as retinol or retinaldehyde. Retinaldehyde is stronger than retinol, but weaker than Retin-A, which could be perfect for your skin and wallet.

Don’t forget to wear a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen always rain or shine. Wearing these acne treatments can make your skin more photosensitive to the sun, which can cause more wrinkles and acne scars. Find a sunscreen that your skin likes, there is one for every skin type. Check out my other post for more information on broad spectrum sunscreens and preventing acne.

Do not give up hope, you will find the right acne treatment to clear your skin. Read reviews, keep testing, and then stick to what works. Popping pimples can end for you, believe that you will find the right skincare product.
